the French will always take offense;
the Germans are taking exception to a resentment they fell is immense;
and Boris is taking a powder, while Ma Russia does her double take;
and somewhere, yo canto, both Dow and Mansanto are taking a leak in a lake;
Bill Gates and Bill C are both taking a licking, though the latter with greater panache;
hell, let's all just move out to Las Vegas - at least there all they take is your cash...
Yes, it's a new year, the last of the millenium, and things just keep getting squirrelier. If nature abhors a vacuum, then there must be something else in the cosmos that gets all riled up when the year numbers all get ready to kick over at the same time. A high pitched screeching in the rusty old cogs of the great chronological odometer must rip into our collectively unconscious midst, setting off the dogs, coyotes, politicians, and mutual fund managers and wreaking assorted havocs, e.g., la Nina, the NBA lockout, and the Asian financial crisis. Of course, some of those could be the cause of greedy idiots, buy who's to say. At any rate, I'm hunkering down for this race to the Y2K problem, certain in my bones that nothing is ever as good nor as bad as the experts predict. And in the meantime, I'm gonna keep on whistlin' Dixie, being grateful for this good, dense life I have, and trying to do something well and good.
